Summary

    MIZISUA is a complimentary episode in the ALIEN STAGE series.

    It shows Mizi and Sua's first meeting in a surreal-style sequence. At the end, it shows Mizi lying on her side while crying in a rebel base.

    Day 3 of adoption
    I adopted a pet human. It's a child with a pink color like mine. I felt an inexplicable emotion in the gaze of that child who stared straight at me through the glass tube, so I named the child Mizi[a].

    Day 10 of Adoption
    Mizi spoke to me for the first time. Hearing Mizi's clear, flawless voice, I felt for the first time that I wanted to look into the eyes of my pet human.

    Day 300 of Adoption
    Today I bought Mizi glasses and a lamp. Human eyes are vulnerable to darkness; they say staying in dark places easily damages them. She'll have to sleep apart from me from now on, but I suppose the darkness still frightens her greatly.

    Day 1500 of Adoption
    Even after experiencing countless deaths and partings, Mizi always feels new to me. I worry about Mizi leaving my care to live somewhere new, yet I also look forward to seeing how this child will grow.

Commentary[1]

    The MIZISUA video is meant to relay some of the emotional circumstances the main episodes couldn't fully showcase. It depicts Mizi and Sua's first encounter before going to Anakt Garden.

    The episode was established with two mains goals: reassure the audience that Mizi is the main character of the series, and show a distinct style that differs from other ALIEN STAGE episode.

    Mizi and Sua's first meeting was quick, yet it marked both of them profoundly. Having both been raised by Segyein since they were young, it was each other's first encounter with a human being. Something strange and mysterious bloomed within both of them seeing someone 'human' like them, which is how they were able to remember each other before meeting in Anakt Garden.

    Even though they had similar circumstances, Mizi and Sua were also extremely different. Sua was raised by Nigeh, an influencer, and her sole purpose was being paraded around like a doll, which is why Sua's clothes in the video are very flashy yet suffocating. As a passive entity in her own life, Sua had little attachment to it. Unlike Sua, Mizi grew up being loved by Shine, who acted like a 'parent'.

    Mizi has a blanket stuffed with different belongings while being sent off, reminders of Shine with her, symbolizing an attachment to her former life. Yet when she sees Sua and gets nearer, she doesn't even realize they have all flown away. This shows how Mizi's life is truly beginning anew as she goes to Anakt Garden.

Trivia[1]

  • The idea for the episode was conveyed in a trip VIVINOS took to Japan. While she had nothing to do, she wrote a piece about the Alien Stage's characters qualities that she did not want to waste.
  • MIZISUA is the first and only episode in the series not directed by VIVINOS and QMENG, instead being taken on by assistant director Yongjeonsa.
  • In one of its earlier draft, there was a monologue by Mizi. It was removed to further allow for individual interpretation by the viewers.
